Playing Low to Medium Pocket Pairs

In No Limit Texas Hold Em poker online, playing low to medium pocket poker pairs is one of the most challenging hand to play. Anyone can play a big pocket pair. If you get dealt aces, kings or queens, you play them aggressive and hard. I’ve written in the past about the nuances of playing medium pocket pairs, but small pocket pairs are something that often gets overlooked in the realm of poker strategy. If you get dealt, say, a pair of twos, there are a lot of options open to you. Most people would not raise with that hand, many players like to call and see if they can hit a set on the flop. But I have played poker at many a table where people did in fact make big raises with pocket twos or threes. The thing is, how you act before the flop dictates how you should play these hands. If you just limp in and call hoping to hit a set, if you don’t hit one then you should just fold. But if you play pocket two’s or three’s aggressive and make raises with them, you then can’t become timid after the flop. You should continue to push, and try and win the online poker pot regardless of if you have the best hand.
