Horseback Riding in Wyoming

One of the world’s best places for horseback riding is Wyoming. Why? For one thing it has a very low population density; smallest of the lower 48 states. New Jersey has about 250 times more people per square mile and that means a great deal more open space in Wyoming. Many parts of the US are so built up now that it is hard to find a place for a good long gallop in favorable terrain. Another thing about Wyoming is that the views are spectacular and most of them remain unspoiled by civilization. There is no better way to see the beauty of the countryside than in the saddle on the back of a good horse. There is something about sharing your pleasure with a willing equine companion which adds enormously to the enjoyment of being there.

The views of the mountains and the varied nature of the trails afford riders constantly a changing panorama. Of course there are many other parts of the world where horsemen can find unspoiled, open country. The beaches of Ireland are a wonderful spot for a fast gallop and there are some lovely rides in the vineyard country of France, but there are few places less spoiled than the forests and plains of Wyoming. It also has a healthy climate for horses with clean, dry air and nutritious grass.
